Women Empowerment

Vital Registration and Citizenship Support

The legal identity document is most important instrument for the people to enjoy the various rights and the privilege guaranteed by the state. State has provided rights and privileges such as old age pension, allowances to single women, endangered races, dalits etc. However, due to the lack of knowledge and lacking of legal identity documents such as citizenship and vital registration (birth certificate, death certificate, marriage certificate, divorce certificate, migration certificate), people are unable to receive privileges provided by the state. Thus for the creation of the just society and for the protection and promotion of the human rights, LACC works for the people to have access on the legal identity documents with the help of community paralegals.
By developing network and strengthening coordination with the local based government institution and its officer bearers LACC works as a bridge between government and people in increasing access to justice through legal identity. It also identifies and fosters its ties and relationship with the local based like-minded organization with an objective to collaborate and coordinate with each other while supporting people for getting vital registration and citizenship. In addition, LACC enhances the capacity of the local paralegals to handle legal identity cases of ultra poor and marginalized communities and contribute them to obtain their vital registration certificates.

Leadership development

LACC has been working for empowering women for their better performance and their role is meaningfully justified. It is therefore imperative to expand the base of their knowledge and competence on women's rights, gender justice, local development, existing legal provisions and new amended or enacted laws. Only, through such trainings and awareness programs, women leaders can be competent and develop their leadership skills.
LACC has been providing various leadership development and legal trainings to women at grass-root levels. Recently, LACC has provided various trainings such as paralegal trainings, training on disaster management, capacity strengthening training on Anti- human trafficking, training to trainers (ToT) on GBV, mediation training etc.

Socio economic and political rights

A large section of the population in Nepal especially women cannot access political participation and representation to public affairs due to economic and social conditions, social stigma and lack of access to information, among other reasons. LACC in this regard, advocates with the government to implement and ensure the women's representation and participation in the decision level and every structure of state mechanism. LACC has been working to ensure the women's active participation and leadership at all level of development planning processes and decision making structures and has been conducting various women targeted economic empowerment programs.
